{"id":642,"date":"2015-07-26T02:35:29","date_gmt":"2015-07-26T02:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hipsync.com.au\/diannereid\/?p=642"},"modified":"2025-01-30T06:40:53","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T06:40:53","slug":"dsw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hipsync.com.au\/?p=642","title":{"rendered":"DSW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My 2015 screendance <em><strong>DSW<\/strong><\/em> gets its first (international) screening at the <strong>Dance Film Festival UK on Saturday August 8.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It will be screened all day as part of the Private Cinema Installation at\u00a0O2 Think Big Hub, Hoxton Square, London, N1 6NT.<\/p>\n<p>This screendance was created as an artefact of my evolving performance practice with Melinda Smith which had its first full-length presentation,\u00a0<strong><em>Unbecoming<\/em><\/strong>, at last year&#8217;s Melbourne Fringe (and will have a further development in a couple of months&#8230;more details to follow&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>The title <em><strong>DSW <\/strong><\/em>is an acronym\u00a0we coined for a Skype emoticon we exchanged\u00a0in our early online conversations (before moving into our regular\u00a0improvisation practice). It was a stick figure dancing that Mel re-visualized in her\u00a0painting of DSW, Dancing Stick Woman (see featured image for this post).<\/p>\n<p>It could also stand for:<\/p>\n<p>dance spasm warrior<\/p>\n<p>don\u2019t stop working<\/p>\n<p>dynamic strong women<\/p>\n<p>different same wonderful<\/p>\n<p>doing something wrong<\/p>\n<p>dizzy sickening waning<\/p>\n<p>determined simple wants<\/p>\n<p>driving sensation washing<\/p>\n<p>drifting subtle whimsy<\/p>\n<p>dangerous stunt wheelchair<\/p>\n<p>distant sleeping world<\/p>\n<p>difficult singing whispers<\/p>\n<p>definitely standing wobbly<\/p>\n<p>deft succinct writing<\/p>\n<p>does some wishing<\/p>\n<p>dancing starry window<\/p>\n<p>deliberate slippery weasel<\/p>\n<p>Dianne starts waiting<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My 2015 screendance DSW gets its first (international) screening at the Dance Film Festival UK on Saturday August 8.
